Visie digitaal onderwijs

Artikel 4: Visie digitaal onderwijs

Welke visie heb ik ten aanzien van digitaal onderwijs voor mijn vak?  En onderwijs in het 'algemeen'?
After studying about open and online onderwijs in the first part of this course, it became apparent that the various sources available to us as teachers are varied and helpful in allowing for a diverse approach to English teaching. Using ICT to improve upon my teaching is something that could be allowed for in a sustained ‘vision’ for my digital education standards as teacher and guide for students in class. The creative commons allows for many types of sources, like lesson plans, presentations, open source programs and games to come into the classroom and help me in my lessons. Shakespeare and his work comes alive in interactive powerpoints and lessons developed by other professionals and shared online, poetry comes alive through interactive web series allowing for different and new perspectives on classic verses, and many other examples. This is of course is true for every subject at school, and it has been my pleasure to see other colleagues use ICT and digital approaches for the hard sciences, language learning and pretty much any other class taught now in school.

Welke visie heeft de school waar ik werkzaam ben ten aanzien van digitaal onderwijs?

This is something that is an area I cannot accurately report upon; my school, while storied and full of wonderful colleagues and students, remains on the up and up as it were when it comes to a sustained vision for ICT incorporation. While there are screens up in every classroom, and each teacher has a laptop, there is no ideology in place that flows from management to teachers to students in any sustained way. I believe this could be changing in the future, but it remains to be seen how something like lesson planning and the day to day teaching could be integrated into a school-wide ICT plan.
Hoe verhouden beide visies t.o.v. elkaar en hoe heeft dit invloed op jouw onderwijs?
As we would say in Dutch, n.v.t.--this is a non starter as my own vision is self contained and not framed by any school-wide vision (as there isn’t one). That means I’m free to do what I want qua ICT integration, and as it is my want to do so with many of my lessons, this remains an act of intrinsic motivation to do so, and is not perpetuated by any extrinsic forces wishing me to do so.

In summary, I believe I have had enough self-training and use in ICT-related approaches to education that allows for me to use a lot of it in the lessons on a daily basis. While that means that I am ‘ok’ as it were with regard to my level of literacy and therefore (hopefully) my students’, it remains to be seen how my school will develop its own ideas for a shared vision with its staff to allow for a rising tide to lift all of the boats, and bring digital standards into play for lesson planning, development and (co) curricular teaching across the subject areas!
